Mechanical Storage Solutions
Storing rowing equipment is one of the greatest challenges facing a rowing club. To get the best results from crews on the water requires the club’s building to be run efficiently.
By removing the need for rowers to lift boats over head height you not only reduce the risk of damage to the boats, but also the risk of injury to rowers.
The time boats spend out of the water while they are being repaired is time the rowers can’t train and compete. By solving the storage issues of your shed you will be giving your club its best chance to produce the on water results it is aiming for and not damage any rowing boats either. Let us show you electric hoist solutions for high bay rowing club racks and for heavy boat lifting in a rowing shed.
Space Saver Rowing Systems’ mechanical solutions not only improve the storage capabilities of rowing club sheds, but make caring for equipment much easier. Our stacking system regulates the lifting and spacing on the boat rack automatically, with boats to be lifted and replaced from waist height.

Mechanical Quad (4x) Stacker
Redlands College store rowing quadruple scull boats Case Study shows the time and money savings from one high school rowing programme who installed a 6-boat electric hoist for their quad scull boats.
Given the prime real estate usually occupied by rowing clubs and facilities it is imperative to make the most of every little bit of space on offer. Storing more boats for the same footprint the ability of the Mechanical Quad Stacker to maximise the potential of a shed is invaluable.
Key features of the Mechanical Quad Stacker include:
- A one off cost which provides infrastructure ready for expansion
- The easy to use off-the-shelf system arrives ready to be installed
- Regulated control from a hand-held remote control, with key lockout
- Removes the need for rowers to stand on unstable or unsafe platforms to store and retrieve equipment
- Facilitates Occupational Health and Safety compliance and reduces insurance claims
- A mechanical boat storage system assists schools to adhere to the increasing OH&S and insurance regulatory environment
- Meets U.S. and Australian Standards
The Mechanical Boat Stacker is the perfect solution to the challenges faced by your rowing club and contributes substantially to the rowing performance of your club

Motor boat (tinnie) stacker
Tinnie Stacker for motor boats requiring indoor storage using our mechanical winch system. This shows single and double rack options where you can store a coach boat with the motor attached.
The coach boat poses another challenge for rowing shed storage. Our Motor Boat Stacker provides a cost effective solution to securely and safely storing your cumbersome coaching boats.
The Motor Boat Stacker does more than address the space and lifting issues of storing tinnies. By reducing the footprint of the storage space to at least one third, it becomes more practical to separate and isolate the boats and their highly flammable motors and fuel.
The Motor Boat Stacker uses a “roll on – roll off” principle, meaning there is no need to attach and remove extra equipment (like the outboard motor). The Stacker itself can store either flat bottomed or curved hull boats, up to 4 meters in length. The system is controlled via a powered winch, as with the Quad Mechanical Stacker, and self regulates the height and lifting process.
There are two models of Motor Boat Stacker, the single sided 3 boat and the double sided 6 boat stacker.

Testimonials from Mechanical Stacker users
I worked with Doug Lumsden and Space Saver Rowing Systems when installing the entire boatshed for Redlands School in the Mosman Shed. Doug was very innovative and hugely helpful with all aspects of the installation. There was nothing that was too much for Doug. Doug was attentive and was able to think outside the box to provide an innovative racking system. The motorised racking system that was installed has been a huge success. The system has alleviated so many previously troublesome issues. From a safety perspective the system solves the issue of damage to boats and injuries to rowers when lifting boats high on steps above their head. The system halved the time taken to get on and off the water. The entire racking system has been a huge success and in particular the motorised system has been applauded by, coaches, rowers, parents and the School.
